WEEK AT A GLANCE:
- Wednesday, December 5: Annual Sr. Citizen Brunch & Concert, doors open at 9:15 a.m.; brunch at 9:30 a.m.; concert at 10:30 a.m.; free to all hilltown senior citizens;
- Thursday, December 6: Monthly MARS Meeting (Gateway town officials and school committee, facilitated by Massachusetts Association of Regional Schools); 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Gateway;
- Friday, December 7: Westfield A-Capella Performance for Littleville, 1 p.m.
- Tuesday, December 11: Grades 5 – 8 Winter Concert, 6:30 p.m. in the Gateway Performing Arts Center; free admission; poinsettia raffle;
- Wednesday, December 12: Wrestling Season Opener, 6 p.m. in the HS Gym; Policy Sub-Committee Meeting, 6 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office; Gateway Regional School Committee, joint policy development meeting with town officials, 7 p.m. in MS Rooms 112/114.

SCHOOL COMMITTEE: The next meeting of the Gateway Regional School Committee will be Wednesday, December 12 at 7 p.m. in MS Rooms 112/114. This is a joint budget development meeting with town officials for the 2019-20 school year and will open with a joint executive session. The public is welcome to attend. A Policy Subcommittee meeting will also be held that night, at 6 p.m. in Dr. Hopson’s office.
GATEWAY MUSICIANS POST 100% SUCCESS RATE AT WMASS: This is the first time that all of the Gateway students who auditioned for the Massachusetts Music Educators Western District Festival were selected, reports Sr. Communications Intern Grace LeBarron.
GEF THANKS DONORS FOR SUPPORT ON GIVING TUESDAY: “On behalf of the Gateway Education Foundation, the Board would like to truly thank all of our donors who took part on Giving Tuesday, Nov 27,” said President Shirley Winer. “We had a record number of donors and a record number of new donors this year.”
FIRST TERM ACADEMIC AWARDS ANNOUNCED: Principal Jason Finnie has announced the Middle School Effort Awards and High School Honor Roll for the first marking period of the 2018-19 school year.
GATEWAY BANDS AND CHOIRS ANNOUNCE WINTER CONCERTS: Two winter concerts will be held next week: grades 5-8 perform on Tuesday, Dec 11 and the high school takes the stage on Thursday, Dec 13.
WINTER SPORTS SEASON HOME OPENERS: Communications Intern Parker Atkin reports on the opening home contests for boys and girls basketball, wrestling, and alpine ski teams.
LITTLEVILLE PAJAMA DRIVE UNDERWAY: Littleville is again partnering with Scholastic Books to collect new pajamas for families in need. Scholastic will match each pair of pjs with a new book, to help children facing uncertainty have a cozy good night.

IT’S NATIONAL INFLUENZA VACCINATION WEEK! December 2 – 8 marks National Influenza Vaccination Week. It’s not too late and is recommended for everyone six months and older. Flu shots are still available at the Gateway School Based Health Center. Vaccination is especially important for protecting people in your life at high risk of serious flu complications, including young children, pregnant women, adults 65 and older, and anyone with a chronic health condition (asthma, diabetes, or heart disease).
