We have a $15,000 grant to study whether or not to expand learning opportunities for our students by increasing our school day or school year. At this point, this is simply a planning process.  In the end, we will decide whether or not to expand our school schedule; we might also use some of the ideas that we come up with through this planning process within our current school schedule..

Knowing that the needs of students, staff and families must be considered, we are creating four committees to lead this project.

Steering – to look at district issues, including finances, and ensure that the grant is being implemented as planned

Elementary – to plan opportunities for students in grades

K – 4

Middle School – to plan  opportunities for students in grades 5 – 8

High School – to plan opportunities for students in grades

9 – 12

Each committee will set meeting dates and times, study and answer a range of essential questions, and develop a draft of what the schedule might look like if it were expanded.

The committees will report out and seek input from the community on a regular basis. Committees will share progress as we move through this planning year. We expect to complete the planning process no later than mid-summer and submit a tentative plan to the state in August.
