Middle School ELT Committee

Minutes from 4/03/07

Attendance:  Sue, Nancy, Cathy, Ruth, and Shannon

Sue gathered lots of info and distributed.  If nothing else, read the article by Pat Wolfe.  Lots of info to support that increased physical activity improves brain development in adolescents.

Tonight’s goal: to tally surveys.  For the presentation on the 26th, parent, student survey results, potential partners in surrounding areas coming through After-School Program survey. Our goal is reading, math, and  physical ability; we have plenty to read, just need time to digest it – pick elements to support.

Idea: professional development starts at noon, kids can stay in a program “after-school.”  Another idea that was brought up was restructuring Enrichment time.  Even if we don’t get this grant, we need to use our data to look at restructuring the day to make it more effective.

Parent survey, which subjects would most benefit your students (answers from staff already tallied).

We finished tallying all parent surveys.  Sue will compile results as she has the spreadsheet on her computer already.  Students are partially tallied.

Next meeting date: April 24th meeting has been moved to an early date on the 26th.  April 26, after school (4:00), in the regular location, we will prepare for evening District meeting, which starts at 6:30 in Distance Learning Center.  Copies of research and district data are available – see Sue Luppino.
