All Gateway
schools are operating on their normal schedules.
In case of inclement weather or other acts of nature
resulting in the cancellation of school, the following procedures shall
be followed to inform students and parents of the closing of schools:
1. School
closings in the district will be announced over WMAS, WHMP, WHYN, WAQY,
WNNZ, WPKX, TV Channel 40 (WGGB), TV Channel 22 (WWLP), and the Gazette
Line. Announcements will be broadcast as near the local school hours as
is convenient and possible for the stations' announcers – usually,
several times between 5:00 and 8:00 a.m.
2. Parents or students may call the school voice mail system at
(413) 685-1001.

The
school department wishes parents to know that many times during the
course of the winter the decision to call off school due to inclement
weather is difficult at best. Not only must the safety of the children
be considered, but also the necessity of conducting school for a total
of 180 days, and still dismissing for the summer, prior to July 1.
Please be aware that we will not have school if we believe you child’s
health and safety will be jeopardized.
