This week is National School Bus Safety Week

Huntington- October 15 – 21, 2006 marks National School Bus Safety Week this year.  This event is always held in the third week of October, and is sponsored by the National Association for Pupil Transportation.

This year’s theme is, “I see the Driver and the Driver sees me”, referring to the care that students must take near school busses.  The theme was generated by the winner of their 2005 National School Bus Safety Poster contest, Byron Knaus of Kansas.  Any students who wish to submit a drawing and slogan for the 2006 contest may get information on their website, http://www.napt.org/

Littleville Elementary Principal Joanne Blocker honored her students’ bus drivers with cards and pins on Monday, the 15th. The cards were inscribed “We think you’re terrific for your efforts each day and the care and commitment you always display.  We’re grateful to know we can count on you.  Please accept our thanks for all that you do!”  The pins were inscribed: “School bus drivers – delivering the future.”

Gateway’s bus contractors for the current school year are: Lecrenski Transportation, First Student Transportation, and Healy Transportation.

Michelle Oliveira, Driver for First Student with Littleville Principal Joanne Blocker.
