Tech Prep: The Tech Prep Pathway

     One of the most exciting and important things happening in education today is Tech Prep. By providing a closer link between comunity colleges an high schools, Tech prep gives you, as a student, an opportunity to earn college credits while you are still in high school.



     You may choose to enroll in any variety of Tech Prep programs currently being offered at Gateway Regional High School. We offer courses in Aviation Maintenance Technology, Aviation Management, Biotechnology, Communications Technology/Interactive Media, Information Technology, and Welding/Metal Fabrication. We are in the process of developing courses in mechanical engineering, and website development.

     If you decide to enroll in one of our Tech Prep programs, you could graduate from high school with college credits towards a program at any community college in Massachusetts providing your school has an articulation agreement with the college.

     Any student who is plannin ga college education after high school may enroll in the Tech Prep program. The key is to begin developilng a PATHWAY for course selection and for college planning. A pathway is a sequence of courses, projects, community options, internships and job shadowing experiences, which will enable you o meet your career goal.

     College faculty are working closely with your high school faculty to develope college-level courses which are interesting, challenging and relevant to tomorrow's work place. Your high school instructors will be teaching these courses to you with in you rjunior and enior year. Gaetway has the goal of providing you with an easy start for a college career that can only lead to a brighter future for you.

      By enrolling in the Tech Prep program as a sophmore, you are viewed as a protential community college student. As a junior and senior, you can access the courses that will meet your pathway requirements and provide you with a smoother transition from high school to the community college experience.
