pattern.

In the following row of numbers you can figure out the missing number by subtracting between the numbers to figure out the amount between the numbers. This would be the rule. You would then add that number to the 6 and get the number that is missing.

Sometimes the rule changes as you move along the row so you must check the entire row to make sure you have the correct rule.
