Adv Physics

Welcome to Advanced Physics! Physics is the study of the interaction of matter and energy. Students who sign up for this course are usually interested in science and are planning to further their education in science.
During the semester we will be using the System International for all measurements and calculations. Remember that no number has any value without a unit. You might have 200.000 but of what, dollars or insects.
With each chapter we will be completing a laboratory exercise based on the theory learned. The syllabus for the course follows.

Introduction to Physics.
Measurement in system S.I., significant figures & graphs.
Velocity.
Acceleration.
Forces.
Vectors.
Motion in two dimensions
Universal gravitation.
Momentum and conservation of momentum.
Work energy and simple machines.
Energy.
Thermal Energy.
States of matter.
Waves and energy transfer.
Sound.
Light.
Reflection and refraction.
Mirrors and lenses.
Diffraction and interference of light.
