Heading | Begin your text here. Course DescriptionPre-Voc is designed to give students the opportunity to develop work related skills through a variety of work experiences. Students first go through a process of evaluating their career interests and corresponding skill set. Then begin to explore a variety of jobs over the course of their high school career. Some tasks are related to their interest and some experiences are designed to develop more general work related tasks. All experiences are designed to involve the student in a supportive but challenging work experiences necessary to develop appropriate and competent work behaviors. Curriculum While learning valuable job skills like responsibility, timeliness, and focus of purpose, the students in this program provide a variety of valuable services to the school community. The students perform a variety of functions in the library, cafeteria and in the pre-school class. We seek out other tasks for the students involving office tasks, maintenance jobs like cleaning the student store and helping in the Nurse’s Office. We are working to expand our job cites and add new work experiences.
Materials Needed Each job has specific materials needed. Students keep weekly timesheets, which are graded and submitted for their work-study stipend. A work schedule is maintained for both the classroom duties and the work-study duties. Job checklists help the students develop independence and appropriate level of monitoring changes as the student woks towards independence.
Class Expectations Attendance is very important. Your participation will be graded daily and poor attendance will effect your grade. Be on time for class and prepared for your work cite by getting materials needed. Also bring a positive attitude to work and show respect for others.
