Welcome to the
MAC Lab

Teaching Technology at WBMS

Technology is an integral part of your child’s life and education!  In fact scientists and psychologists deem this generation as, “Generation M”, for media.  Our children are surrounded by technology almost every minute of their routine day.  Think about it, they can:

  • Cook with a microwave oven
  • Talk using a cellular phone
  • Create their own multimedia environment with an I-pod or MP3 player
  • Keyboard vs. write using a pen or pencil
  • Communicate to others using instant chat, messaging, or blogs
  • Play games connected to an information superhighway, called the Internet
  • Locate friends or associates anywhere in the world, not just their classroom or neighborhood.

At White Brook Middle School, we have a MAC Lab where our students can learn and grow by acquiring many skills associated with information technology.  Our students acquire these skills by learning software applications within a class activity or engaging in short term projects.  Our formal course focuses on grades 7 & 8 for a duration of 29 days. This class aligns with the MA DOE standards and supports No Child Left Behind!   Students are encouraged to continue learning and refining their skills by completing their assignments within their academic course work.

By the time your child reaches grade 8, they will develop skills to help them succeed in high school.  They will be able to choose additional information technology courses during their high school years in order to be prepared for college or a technical school.
