PowerGrade Questions and Answers
This page contains some of the questions and answers
that have crossed our computer screens concerning PowerGrade. Please
send in your solutions so we can add them and all benefit from what you
have learned.
Updating
PowerGrade Windows
- Download the new PowerGrade program from our site.
- Use the installer you downloaded to install the new program.
- Open PowerGrade and the new version should be available. If
prompted to find a data file be sure to browse and find the old data
file pg3.4dd. Do not select create New
data file!
- If the installation was successful throw away the three files you
moved to the desktop.
Updating
PowerGrade Macintosh
- Download the new PowerGrade program from our site.
- Drag the pg3.comp file into the PowerGrade folder you will need
to confirm to replace the existing file.
- Open PowerGrade and the new version should be available. You may
have to select the previous data file. DO not create a new data file!
Changing
the text color in the spreadsheet
- Version 52 or better.
- Open a class.
- Click on the Spreadsheet Configuration
Options Button it is the fourth button from the right on the
top left.
- You can now change text and background color.
POWERGRADE HINTS
IF
YOU TALK TO A PARENT OR WANT TO MAKE A NOTE ON A STUDENT:
- Go to top of screen and pull down UTILITIES
- Click on STUDENT LOG ENTRY
- Find and High Light the name of student
- Enter a title, such as Parent Contact, Behavior, or Tardies
- Document the transaction.
- Submit
The Entry will come
to POWERSCHOOL and it will be a Teacher comment in the student file.
IF YOU WANT TO
OVER-RIDE A GRADE THAT THE COMPUTER HAS GIVEN (SUCH AS A "P" INSTEAD OF
AN "F".
- Bring up PowerGrade and the class
- Go to the student's percentage and click three times fast (It's
tricky and takes some practice)
- You will get a FINAL GRADE BOX
- Click on the box that says manual over-ride
- You may enter a new grade or a P, I (incompletes are only for
emergency circumstances!).
- Save (Command + S Mac) (Control + S PC)
IF YOU WANT TO PRINT
A REPORT BY TURNING PAPER THE LONG WAY SO MORE COLUMNS OF SCORES WILL
PRINT....
- Get up PowerGrade and the class
- Go to Report
- Pull down Report
- Edit the report you want to print (remember, you keep mouse down
to hilite report and put finger on "option" key. Let up mouse, let up
option key)
- In EDIT REPORT BOX click on OPTIONS
- Choose any of the things you want to show on the report
- Pull down "Width of Printed Area" and choose 10 or 10.5
- Click OK
IF YOU WANT TO EXEMPT
STUDENTS OR HAVE CERTAIN THINGS NOT COUNT ON GRADE (SUCH AS: if a
student enters your class late in the term)
- Get up PowerGrade and a class
- Go to FILE in top left corner
- Go to PREFERENCES and a PREFERENCE BOX will come up
- You may tell it to round decimals
- You may enter the code for exemptions (may use ex). Then, when
you are entering scores, just put =ex and it not count that score as
zero
- Remember to click OK
