AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM: It’s back and we’re adding high school!!  Our after-school program will run from Tuesday - Thursday afternoons from 2:15 - 4:15, with the exceptions of early release/half days.  We are starting on Tuesday, October 12th and ending Thursday, Nov. 19.  Transportation is provided to Blandford Elementary School, Russell Town Hall, Chester Town Hall, Montgomery Town Hall, Middlefield Elementary School/Town Offices and Huntington Town Green. It is open to all middle and high school students. Students are expected to attend all four days each week.  Students will participate in a variety of fun activities including outdoor games, outdoor adventures (kayaking, fishing and more), crafts, film study, dance and homework help/tutoring time.  students will have tutoring as one of their activities at least two of the three days.

FLASHING LIGHTS AND BUS SAFETY: Please note that when buses have their red flashing lights on, it is considered a stop sign and all drivers cannot pass the bus during that time. Here is a link to the law with this information. Please take note when buses are parked in the circle outside of the high school, as some drivers have been attempting to squeak by when the red flashing lights are on. Thank you for your diligence!

LOCAL AND STATEWIDE COVID DATA: The MA Department of Public Health puts out COVID data for our local towns and counties on their statewide data dashboard.  COVID reports will also include school district information regarding positive cases and close contacts.

Here are the data sheets.

It is positive to see that the trend for COVID Cases across the state and in our two counties are trending down for the second week in a row.

CLOSE CONTACTS: As you can see in our weekly report, there may be a small number of close contacts at school if someone who tests positive for COVID-19 is in the building during their infectious period. All teachers are working very hard to balance having a positive school experience and implementing mitigation strategies whenever possible. However, please know that there are times that students are working closely with one another or eating with one another that would warrant them to be deemed a close contact.

GEF CALENDARS AVAILABLE!: The Gateway Educational Foundation is selling wall calendars that have our school year dates embedded for only $20! All proceeds benefit student projects in the classroom. Calendars can be picked up at the school or shipped for an additional $3. Purchase a calendar by clicking this link!
