GEF Giving Tuesday

HUNTINGTON, Mass. -- The Gateway Education Foundation has joined GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. This year, GivingTuesday will be on November 30.

According to their website, “GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. GivingTuesday was born and incubated at the 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact in New York City. GivingTuesday is now an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.”

The Gateway Education Foundation (GEF) is a not-for-profit organization that was formed to enhance the educational opportunities for students of the Gateway Regional School District. GEF sponsors "Funds for Learning Grants" which support teacher-led projects within the classroom at Littleville, Chester, GRMS, and GRHS.

Already this year, GEF was able to fund many projects for teachers, including funds for expansion of the elementary STEM program, providing free books for elementary students, exploring a possible writing program for middle school grades, and materials to help with COVID remediation for some of our special needs students, and support for high school students to attend Girls State. In total, they were able to award around $5000 to special projects for teachers during this round of funding.
